Linquist is a simple, portfolio oriented theme, without the usual blogging garbage. Inspired by and partially based on the fantastic Sharpfolio theme.

IMPORTANT: USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
You have to divide the text and image part with the <! –more–> tag, so that Wordpress knows what content goes to which side. See the attached screenshot.

Very good theme. Two questions, how can I use categories with this theme? And how can I use the layout from the startpage on subsections?
I tried to avoid things like categories and tags to simplify the whole thing, however you can easily add them. Open index.php in a text editor and insert
<?php the_category(',') ?>somewhere between<p class="meta" >and</p>.As for the subsection layout, I suppose you want the pages to be actually categories, which would probably break the theme. You can read something about listing the categories here if you want to try anyway.

Nice theme! I like it better than Sharpfolio. Do landscapes work differently than portraits? My portrait photo is very large unlike the landscapes that show the larger image when clicked. The portrait only has the one large size. I originally had Sharpfolio and then installed Linquist. I’m not sure if loading a photo is done in the same way. I thought photos were resized smaller when loaded but maybe not.

James, in header.php just replace the whole linquist_navigation function with your menu, placed in a div with
id="nav2"and use the<UL>and<LI>tags of course as well.Malan, no idea what’s the problem. Maybe you’ve inserted some html code that breaks the page??? Remember, that even if you don’t insert any picture, you WILL have to add the MORE tag to display the text on the right side.
I love this theme, but I’m wondering if there is the ability to add a column?

Sure they do, you’ll just have to add at least a few lines of text for each post so that the right side doesn’t feel too empty.

Hi. Nice theme, but have a question. How can I change the defaul width of the images in post? They are all stretched to 500px width, and my images are all about 300px, so they look awful %)
Mikhail, in both style.css and dark.css find the .left img property and change every 500 to 300. It will probably look weird though, so you’ll have to either make the width in .right larger by those 200px or make the whole site thinner by changing every width: 830px to 630px.
You might also need to change the medium size width in settings > miscellaneous if you’re using WP 2.5 or 2.6. Hope this helps :)

How can I add a sidebar (left or right column) and how do I make it Widget ready?
Sorry, I’ve been very busy the last weeks. I will definitely release an improved version of the theme with a sidebar and categories, sooner or later.
Love this theme! My only issue is that images open in a new window instead of via the liightbox (yes,I have lightbox enabled in the settings) .. I use the WP media uploader, have my wp medium images set to 500 max .. when I post I use the med image in the post and they link to the full size ..
Weird, it seems to work for everyone else. A few things I can think of: have you renamed the theme folder name? Is the wp-lightboxJS folder there? Does changing other settings work for you?
If your site is online, send me a link and I’ll take a look. If not, open your test site and take a look at the source code. Check if the lightbox.js file is mentioned in there, also every image should have rel=”lightbox”.

Easy. Open both index.php and single.php add the line from example from here just before the first < /p> or after < ?php echo apply_filters('the_content', $content[1]); ?>, wherever you like it better.
Looks like I’ll have to set up a support forum for my themes to make things easier :-)

Love this theme to. Had just one problem with pixelated photos, until i found out i had to change medium-size pics from default 300px to 500px in settings. Now it works great in wp 2.6.2

Hi – thanks for a really, really great theme. I have worked with it several days, and I think I am about to be where I want.. but there are still things to be done better. When I double-click a picture I see the picture isolated, but there is a bit of the picture showing in the buttom. It does not help if I use the more tag.. If I do that the picture will be placed to the right …I think I have tried the most and I could need a bit help here. Perhaps the lightbox is not implemented at all ….

Hola again – looking at previous posts – is there a simple solution to add categories? I realize you will get to it eventually, but was curious.

but the blog only shows up when I deactivate the lightbox-feature in the linquist-options. When it’s activated, my blog only shows the background-image or something like that.

Hi, thanks for a great Wordpress theme! One issue I noticed was that the RSS feed link in the footer has double quotation marks next to each other in the title tag of the href:
I have been using Linquist which I like a lot – I am just having an issue with the color scheme. I had the color option set to dark and recently I realized that the dark brown color had disappeared and was replaced with a light brown / beige color – I went to the option window to change it and the color scheme was indeed set to Dark – I do not understand why the color doesnt match the original brown

Hey Olivier, I just checked out your site and I am seeing the correct chocolate brown. If you find that you are still running into problems, then just copy the Dark.css styles into your styles.css file. However, your site is looking normal to me.

- If you are getting strange errors on your 404 pages, remove the “get_sidebar()” call on your 404.php template file. That will fix the call errors. Unfortunately you may still experience some layout issues because the “post” div was left out. Here is what I did to fix it:

hello. perfect theme…even matches the colors of my wesbite. my only question is that sometimes i cannot resize the images {to make them smaller} and they turn out looking vlurry
figured out the image issues thankfully, but how do i add more links to the nav….and then upload content to populate those pages? a tertiary page or detailed instructions to create more pages would be very helpful. Obsessed with the theme though. very nice work!

Hi, I’ve been working on a portfolio website for a friend, and have used your theme using Wordpress 2.7. I created a navigation system based on post categories using the ’superfish’ jquery library. Unfortunately I had to hard code it in the header, so it doesn’t automatically update, but at least it makes it a bit easier to navigate throughout the sections.
I’d like to eventually switch the lightbox that is used to one that will accommodate html pages so I can display flash and quicktime movies without a pop-up or leaving the page..

everything seems to be fine with firefox, but i am having a small problem with the navigation in Internet Explorer when I add more than 3 pages (navigation items)…it’s wrapping to another line in Internet Explorer. anybody else having this issue or can anyone help me figure out how to prevent this from happening.

As a new Worpress user, and totally inept at theme creation I have found your Linquist offering a huge relief.
My site is at pixelart portfolio, where pixel fidelity is very important. I have found adjusting to my needs very easy to implement.

• Figuring out how to only have one ‘home’ page. The ‘blog’ part is secondary and would only be used occasionally.

WOW, this really is awesome. It did take a quite a bit of css tinkering.
Lightbox: No problem – but I installed nextgen gallery (+flashviewer) and shawdowbox js (shadowbox turned auto-off for images – great for boxing linked pages)
Images forced to 500px – I disabled this:

float: right;
line-height: 26px;
_margin-top: 5px;”
Brackets removed
(wrapper width is set to 840)
I think this requires changing some padding or margins (don’t remember!) but works fine.
I’m looking at the img border – sometimes I want them off. I’ll try adding a new class – not sure if there is an easier method.
Not sure if I want to set ‘test home’ for home page, or use the post page.

The dual CSS is great! Takes more time to change, but the ability to change one file at a time helps with before/after review.
Looks better in Firefox (Works great on a Mac). Not as ’smooth’ looking on IE7 due to font differences (the content-meta are too big, etc).
pagemash + page link manager to control the menu. Might replace this.

I’ve been working with this theme, and I’m trying to figure out how to organize posts on my home page into two columns. I’m using excerpts there, and I only want the post excerpts to appear in columns, not to have columns within the posts themselves.
I’ve tried suggestions on various forums for editing index.php and installing different plugins, but nothing has worked. One person suggested editing home.php, but I didn’t see that file in your theme. Do you have any advice on how to create those columns? Thank you!!

hello, how can i make the blog title an image instead of the text?
never mind, i figured it out :) thanks for the theme!
Very nice theme! I installed it with the newest WP-release and I used the tags nut the text shows up where the picture should be. The title is below the text and the image.

Hi! i had a problem with the lightbox. it didnt show.

I also didnt change anything, I just uploaded and activated the theme.
And the last thing, the image had no rel=”lightbox”. i had no idea.
The lightbox only works when the image is a LINK to a larger version of it.

I found your theme because i was looking for a good way to display my portfolio, and i found it RELLY GOOD, one of the best i’ve seen so far
I’m using post page as home(as any other blog), but i did one post sticky as a presentation for the new visitors, just under it the loop show all the other post which i’m planning to use as news update,BUT for no apparent reason post title allignement change from post to another, i’d like the title to be shown at the same height of the post content, is it possible?
I tried to reinstall several time the theme but seems useless,in some post itkeeps post titles alligned(to top right) in other no
Is it also possible to show an image under your current logo?I mean keeping website title as an active link but keeping under a sized image(sized to the link box)
I am not a programmer but if you need to go into the specific i’ll try to listen very carefully

I’d like to list my category (I just have one) along with the pages in the navbar. Can I add something like “print wp_list_categories(’title_li=’); echo…”? to the Theme Functions? If so, what would go on the “echo” line?

But, i have a problem. i want a static page as my frontpage. and then a page for the post´s.
so i have “frontpage” and “portfolio” as my 2 pages.
The problem is that that there is now 3 links in my menu. Home, Frontpage and Portfolio Where Home and Frontpage is pointing towards the same side.
Is there a way to remove the “home button”?

Find the following line of code:

Now open the single post page (single.php) and find this line of code:
And immediately below that add this:
Now all you have to do in your posts is add a second tag (by clicking the button) between what you want your front page text to be and the rest of the article.
